UAW strike delays 2020 Corvette C8 production
Where is the new Corvette?
– The Corvette C8 will feature a rear-mid engine position, differing from the classic Corvette front-engine it has had since inception
– UAW, the union that represents GM workers, went on strike and delayed production
– The performance Z51 package can be added to any of the three Corvette C8 trim levels
Corvette is known as one of the original American made sports cars. Starting production in 1953, it has customarily been a rear-wheel-drive, front-engine, two-passenger sports car. It has had several redesigns over the years, which are referred to as generations.
The generations are named C, then the generation. The redesign for the current model is called the C8, which means Corvette generation 8.
The 8th generation Corvette, the C8, will feature a rear-mid-engine arrangement, which is pretty new and exciting for Corvette lovers. It maintains the standard Corvette body and paint colors.

Corvette is manufactured by GM. Unfortunately, GM has also been involved in hotly-contested talks with its workers regarding their next contract. Things escalated, and the workers went on strike. Unfortunately, this also meant that all production relating to the 2020 Corvette C8 also stopped.
GM went on strike for 40 days before their union, the UAW, reached an agreement and ratified their new contract with GM. During this time, the production lines were not running. For all those Corvette enthusiasts, the wait for the new 2020 Corvette C8 is now delayed by at least 40 days.

2020 Corvette C8 Specs
The C8 Corvette is the 8th generation Corvette manufactured by GM. For the 2020 model year, it has an MSRP of $59,995 for the base model. Reviewers have said that the base model does come fairly loaded with features.
Standard features for the 2020 Corvette C8 include dual climate control, power-adjustable seats, keyless entry and start, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The interior features an 8″ infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM, and HD radio. This can be heard through the 10-speaker Bose sound system.
The smart car features don’t end there! The Corvette C8 also includes a high def backup camera, NFC phone pairing, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
Safety features such as LED headlights, rear parking sensors, and remote start are also standard.

The Corvette C8 features three trim levels. To each trim level, the Z51 performance package can be added. The trim levels are base, 2LT, or 3LT. The Z51 performance package adds performance and ups the horsepower, pushing the C8 to a 0-60 time of under 3 seconds. Who doesn’t want that?
Performance brakes, performance exhaust, sporty suspension, adjusted rear axle ratio, a limited-slip differential, and a better cooling system are also added as part of the Z51 performance package. Sounds alright. Hard to see anyone buying the C8 and not getting the Z51 package.

Barrett-Jackson Charity Auction
It has been announced that the first Corvette C8 off the production line will be auctioned off, and its sale proceeds donated to the Detroit Children’s Fund.
The first produced Corvette C8 will come equipped with a Z51 performance package, a 495hp 6.2L V8, and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle.
